My years in schools give me a first-hand understanding of the pressures kids face today, and I believe helping them accept themselves is the first step toward positive change.
Hello! I’m Christina Jenkins, a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and Nationally Board Certified Teacher. For over 25 years, I’ve worked alongside children and families through life’s transitions, challenges, and big emotions — first as an elementary teacher and school counselor in the public school system, and now as a mental health therapist.
I hold a B.S. in Family & Child Development from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in School Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. My years in schools give me a first-hand understanding of the academic and social pressures kids face today, and I bring that insight directly into our work together.
My passion is creating a safe, warm space where your child feels seen, heard, and valued. I believe helping kids understand and accept themselves is the first step toward positive change, and I love helping them build the self-awareness to recognize and manage their emotions. I provide support for emotional and behavioral growth, including anxiety, stress, and emotional regulation; ADHD and other neurodivergent needs; self-esteem, identity, and body image; social skills and friendships; and grief, divorce, and other family transitions.
I combine evidence-based care — including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) — with creative, child-centered tools like play therapy elements, mindfulness, games, and bibliotherapy, tailored to your child’s development.
If you and your child are ready to take the first step, I’d be honored to walk this path with your family.
Finding the right fit is the most important part of therapy.
Whether you’d like to request a specific therapist or let us match you with the next available specialist tailored to your needs, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
